Subway Service Changes

Since July 2003, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has been conducting planned schedule changes.  Some of these changes have been visible and some have not. The amount of re routing done to the number four train line in the Grandconcourse section of the Bronx, is not reflected in the current structure and design of the 170th train station.

The delays and service changes in the 170th station has taken a huge tole on the morale of the subway rider’s in the Bronx.  Many of these rider’s feel that the subway changes delay their commute.  The subway riders are also frustrated because , although they are aware of the construction that needs to be done on the subway tracks; they rarely see any construction workers.  Maria Hernandez a woman who lives in the Grand Concourse area, and a subway commuter says  “I can’t wait till these construction things are over, I have to wake up so early just to get to work on time.”

The MTA capital construction formed in 2003. The main purpose was to reorganize the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.   The capital construction was formed to help enhance the MTA system; however, the service delays actually hinder the progress of the service and fluidity of the subway service.
